TÂCHES
An interview with Tâches
By Rainer Von Helin on Oct 4, 2014
Tâches is no ordinary artist. First of all, he is a mystery of a person. Secondly, his expeditious career success is taking him to very interesting places, very quickly. He is an eloquent and charismatic music producer with a very good sense of humour. Although he only started making music a couple of years ago, he has taken the world by storm gaining myriad of admirers thanks to his edgy house music, divine remixes and interesting artwork. With over 30k followers on Soundcloud and a hectic touring schedule, we are humbled to have had the opportunity to converse with the music producer. Both hearing what he has to say and play is a pleasure.
Tell us about the man behind Tâches?
Sardonic and, more often than not, hungry.
Where did the name Tâches come from and what does it mean?
I saw it written on an industrial hair dryer.
Where are you currently based and how do you like it?
I’m living in Barcelona right now - having moved here two weeks ago. I grew up in Spain, and after 4 years of being in the UK I can say that it’s damn nice to be back. It’s a mesmerising city that feels like home after the first visit.
Who are your favorite musicians right now?
Mario Basanov and Justin Vernon.
Do you have a muse?
Hilda - a 56 year old librarian from Hannover.
What music did you listen to as a child?
In general, music that my parents didn’t listen to.
Do you come from a musical family?
Not particularly. I mean, both my parents listen to music but neither have a real musical background.
Which remix of yours are you most proud of?
I like the latest remix of Wet’s ‘Move Me’ - it builds subtly and emotively. I like that in a song.

What’s your relationship with the nightlife like?
I go out infrequently but when I do, I’ll stay up for a few days and complain about how little I’ve slept.
What’s the most exciting thing about being a music producer?
You get to travel all over the world for free while still making a living doing what you love doing.
You’re all about vocals, right? Who’s voice could you listen to until the end of time?
Nate Dogg
Name your favorite party destinations?
I like a nice party at home.
Has being TÂCHES helped you make any romantic conquests?
No. I don’t tell people who I am, so I wouldn’t expect it sways anything.
What would be your dream gig?
I’ve kind of always wanted to play in a club where everything is made of beef jerky and the crowd consists of puppies. We would share the dried meat furniture and dance to 115bpm melodic techno.
Tell us about the craziest e-mail or message you’ve received?
I once received an email from a genuine prince in Nigeria who had been falsely imprisoned. Due to my help, he should be travelling to Spain now to give me a whopping sum of €12,000,000.
If you could collaborate with any artist living or dead, who would they be?
Nate Dogg
What’s your musical guilty pleasure?
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is a regular occurrence on my speakers. The Cyndi Lauper version obviously.
What three things do you see happening in the near future?
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
We are the magazine on the quest for pleasure. What’s your ultimate pleasure?
Jerky coated jerky
