Food, Glorious Food

The Age of Consciousness has finally emerged. Humans are becoming more and more aware of their own state of existence, their thoughts and feelings, their environment. They are becoming more mindful and more in touch with their spiritual selves. Surprisingly enough, humans are acting upon the knowledge born to them by the forbidden fruit, the exposure to chemicals in foods, the unhealthy routines we’ve all adopted as “lifestyles”. Consequently, the gradual push engendered by proactive health activists, nutritionists, fitness instructors, and spiritual gurus have allowed us to thrive in the health domain. And, you know what, it’s bloody fantastic! As a health freak and a major foodie myself, I relish in the hundreds and thousands of health food and lifestyle blogs out there. The number of active health bloggers is unaccountable for but, from my everyday experience, at least 1 in 10 of us are somewhat proactive when it comes to taking charge of our general wellbeing. Not only has the movement spread across the web, it’s also taken it’s toll within our city streets, with more and more incredible stores like Whole Foods opening their doors to us, and the increasing popularity of organic on-the-go franchises that have started to make a killing by selling products such as delicious green juices and chia bowls (from the state of California, USA, to the cities of Melbourne and Sydney, Australia). What a huge step forward we’ve come since the days of fast food chains like Macky D’s and KFC. Indeed, the possibilities are endless and we still have a long way to go, but let’s not forget that “one small step for a man” is “one giant leap for mankind”. Who said that healthy organic food was inaccessible? Who said that cooking with your health in mind needed more effort than cooking without it? Who said that healthy food had to taste bad? Granted, it’s slightly on the more pricey end of things - You win that argument there. But can you really argue that your general wellbeing has a price? I say, hell no.

In the meantime, here’s a little treat of my own.
Raw Almond Butter Freezer Fudge
You’ll need:
• 1 cup raw almond butter (unsweetened)
• 1⁄4 cup coconut oil, softened
(do not omit this ingredient, it’s what holds the fudge together)
• 1.5 tablespoons of raw honey
• 1⁄2 teaspoon sea salt (it add deliciousness to the mix)
How to:
1. Mix everything together until smooth and creamy.
2. Line square container with plastic wrap, transfer the mixture
onto it, smoothen with a spatula and freeze until solid. It should
take about 1 hour.
3. Remove fudge by lifting the plastic wrap out of the container
and cut into squares.
4. Enjoy!
Return to freezer (in the container) and store until you can’t resist any longer. They’re raw, naturally sweetened and beautifully creamy. Just remember not to overindulge because, although they’re full of goodness, they’re also full of fat and that ain’t good.
Stay healthy. Stay foolish,
